ActiveSync is a technology developed by Microsoft to enable mobile phones to connect with computers. Microsoft uses the ActiveSync name to refer to both its desktop synchronization software and its push email service with Exchange server. Windows Mobile devices and phones from manufacturers, who have licensed ActiveSync, such as the Apple iPhone3G, can connect to Exchange Server using ActiveSync.
Because ActiveSync is supported at the device level, mobile phones do not need additional services or software to connect to their Exchange accounts. Exchange3G offers free ActiveSync connectivity for all phones that support it
